Former Jaffna High court judge Thambiah Vicknarajah is contesting as a TULF candidate for the Jaffna district in the coming parliamentary elections.
Vicknarajah who is from Moolai, Chulipuram is an old boy of Jaffna College and is an attorney-at-law. He has been associated with the TULF from his student days and supported leaders like SJV Chelvanayagam and A. Amirthalingam who were stalwarts of the party.
Among his promises to the voters if elected are the establishment of a labour court in Jaffna and will pursue the goal of a union of regions to settle the Tamil ethnic issue. He has also promised to fight against violence among women and children and for an establishment of supreme courts on provincial basis. His aim is to champion the cause of handing over of law and order, health, culture and local government fully to the provincial government.
Vicknarajah passed out as an Attorney at Law from the Sri Lanka Law College and practiced as a lawyer in the Mallakam and Jaffna courts before he was appointed as the High Court Judge of Jaffna.
After retirement as the High Court Judge, Vicknarajah was involved in community and religious work in Moolai.
Vicknarajah is the son of Late Thambiah who was the Manager of Victoria College, Chulipuram.
