As “Monsoon Journal” September 2021 issue goes to print, Canada’s two major parties Liberals and Conservatives are locked in a bitter and close contest for power in the forthcoming election scheduled for September 20th.
Based on an election forecast of the number of seats by Vox Pops Labs, it appears that the Liberal Party is cruising towards a victory with few more seats than its opposing Conservative Party. However, with two more weeks of campaigning one never knows how the minds of the voters will turn which way.
Canada is heading for a federal election on September 20th, 2021. On 15th August 2021 Governor-General Mary Simon dissolved Parliament at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s request.
Among the key issues fought in this election are affordable housing, the need for an election, climate change, cost of living, healthcare, taxes, post-pandemic recovery, economic recovery, and childcare.
With around two more weeks of campaigning and the day of the election, the two leaders of the big parties, namely Justin Trudeau leader of the Liberal Party and Erin O’ Toole leader of the Conservative Party are touring the country trying their best to convince the voters to give them the power to run the country for the next five years.
The current Pandemic and the steps that must be taken to control its infection, along with what measures should be adopted to get the Economy back towards normalcy and growth will of course be the key issues which voters will have in their minds when they cast their vote on September 20th.
