Raymond Rajabalan, B.Sc. (Hons)
Raymond Rajabalan has been a member of the editorial group of Monsoon Journal ever since its inception in 2005. Introduced to this publication by the veteran journalist Siva Sivapragasam former Marketing Manager of Virakesari Newspapers Ltd, Mr.Rajabalan is a welcome addition to this news paper. Over the years he has contributed dozens of valuable articles on a variety of important topics and continues to write timely articles.
Hailing from Kayts in Northern Province, he had his early Education at Kayts St.Anthony’s College. He continued his education at St. Patricks College and Jaffna College before gaining admission to University of Peradeniya. After he completed his Honours Degree in Botany, he taught in leading colleges in Sri Lanka including St. Anthony’s College, Kandy and St.Peters College, Colombo. While serving at St. Peters College he was simultaneously appointed as Additional Chief examiner for G.C.E A/l Botany. Immediately after that he was also appointed as a translator of English text books in Biology by the Department of Examinations.
In 1981, he was selected by the Civil Service Commission of Sokoto State of Nigeria to teach Biology. During his five years of service in Nigeria in addition to his normal duties he was also appointed as Marking Examiner for Biology exams conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
After moving to Canada in 1986, he changed his career to Accounting and obtained Diploma in Accounting from Centennial College. He served in a couple of leading business institutions before retiring in 2014.
